Dear Me (And Every Woman Who’s Ever Said, “Is This Normal…or Am I Losing It?),

Well… here we are. Midlife. Perimenopause. Post-menopause. Whatever label you want to slap on it.   It’s here, and honestly, she’s a little bit rude.


I thought by now I’d have it all figured out. Instead, I’m Googling “can hormones cause personality changes”, wide awake at 3 am, and wondering if I have lost my mind. The clothes don’t fit quite the same, the brain occasionally forgets why I walked into a room, and I’m pretty sure I am tinkering on the edge of officially being insane. 


Sound familiar?


Turns out, no one really prepared us for this chapter. Sure, they gave us “the talk” in middle school, but they left out the sequel where your hormones throw a tantrum, your sleep ghosts you, and your energy levels flirt with empty.


But here’s the thing, I’m over pretending everything’s peachy while my hormones are staging a full-blown coup. It’s time for a new game plan.


So here’s the plan:


We stop hanging on by thread and pretending we are “good” through this season. We ask for support. We laugh about the ridiculous stuff (because it is ridiculous). And we make real, doable changes that help us feel good.  We can be strong, clear, rested, and confident in our own skin again.  We deserve to feel good!

We’re not meant to just survive this season. We’re meant to live it. Fully, boldly, and with a whole lot of laughter.
